Ultra-High Q/V Fabry-Perot microcavity on SOI substrate.
We experimentally demonstrate an ultra high Q/V nanocavity on SOI substrate. The design is based on modal adaptation within the cavity and allows to measure a quality factor of 58.000 for a modal volume of 0.6(lambda/n)(3) . This record Q/V value of 10(5) achieved for a structure standing on a physical substrate, rather than on membrane, is in very good agreement with theoretical predictions al...
متن کاملSilicon carbide microdisk resonator.
We demonstrate a silicon carbide (SiC) microdisk resonator with an intrinsic optical quality factor of 6.19×10(3), fabricated on the 3C-SiC-on-Si platform. We characterize the temperature dependence of the cavity resonance and obtain a thermo-optic coefficient of 2.92×10(-5)/K for 3C-SiC. Our simulations show that the device exhibits great potential for cavity optomechanical applications.
متن کاملUltra-sensitive thermometer based on a compact optical resonator.
This article demonstrates a thermometer based on millimeter-scale crystalline disk optical-resonator. By measuring the relative speed difference between 2 colors of light that travel inside the disk, the temperature changes of the disk was measured with a precision of 30 billionths of a degree.
متن کاملCompact LPF using T-shaped resonator with sharp roll-off and ultra wide stopband
In this paper, a microstrip lowpass filter with an ultra-wide stopband with sharp roll-off and compact size is designed and fabricated. To provide a very small dimension, T-shaped and stepped impedance have been used. The cut of frequency at -3 dB is 3.1 GHz. In the proposed structure, insertion loss is less than 0.12 and return loss is more than 15 dB. To achieve a -20dB attenuation level...
متن کاملUnidirectional III-V microdisk lasers heterogeneously integrated on SOI.
We demonstrate unidirectional bistability in microdisk lasers electrically pumped and heterogeneously integrated on SOI. The lasers operate in continuous wave regime at room temperature and are single mode. Integrating a passive distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) on the waveguide to which the microdisk is coupled feeds laser emission back into the laser cavity. This introduces an extra unidirect...
